Reconstruction and Analysis of Whistler Waves Properties with Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter

Résumé

Wave-particle interactions are though to play an important role in the solar wind. The FIELDS experiment onboard Parker Solar Probe (PSP) measures two components of the electric field and three components of the magnetic field. Unfortunately one of the three antennas of the search coil magnetometer starts to disfunction after the first orbit. We propose a method to reconstruct the full polarisation properties of electromagnetic whistler waves by using the two components of the electric field and the two available components of the AC magnetic field. The method is validated by using the PSP measurements of Encounter 1. We next apply it to the subsequent encounters, which allows to obtain important characteristics of the whistler waves (propagation angle, propagation directions :sunward/anti-sunward, frequency, amplitude...) and to study their roles and generation mechanisms in the young solar wind. We also analyse the observations of Solar Orbiter to present an evolution of the role of whistlers up to 1 AU.
