Sodar (Sound Detection and Ranging) research and atmospheric boundary layer at CNET/CRPE

An experimental program on acoustic Doppler sounding has been initiated and developed at CNET/CRPE/CNRS for 25 years. Scientific questions and their evolutions about Boundary Layer and associated phenomena from dedicated experiments are presented. For each topic, since the first Sodar, a simple description of the experimental scheme and the national and international context are enounced. Through experiments where actors on the ground are illustrated from a narrative point of view, a heuristic approach with surprises and discoveries is also described.
