Satellite observations of strong Balmer alpha atmospheric emissions around the magnetic equator

Balmer α emissions of intensity larger than three times the nominal value have been recorded during five different nights at geomagnetic latitudes inferior to ± 22°. They are correlated with sudden impulses in magnetograms
