On the origin of stable IR anomalies detected by satellites above seismo-active regions

Résumé

A number of experimental evidences have recently been obtained for existence of stable anomalies of infra-red outgoing Earth radiation in seismo-active regions, basically by using NOAA-series satellite data. A theoretical model for temperature enhancement of the ground surface layer in the vicinity of fault system of the Earth’s crust is developed. It is assumed that a tectonic stress in this area results in a water squeezing-out from the higher depths towards the Earth’s surface. A convection mechanism of rock warming by groundwater upward filtrating is considered as a possible reason for stable temperature anomalies arising near the fault interception.
