In Situ Analysis of Non-Traditional Isotopes by SIMS and LA–MC–ICP–MS: Key Aspects and the Example of Mg Isotopes in Olivines and Silicate Glasses

Résumé

In this paper we review recent developments of in-situ techniques towards high-precision isotopic measurement of non-traditional isotopes and detail their limitations. To illustrate these limitations, we report in-situ Mg isotopic data acquired by different techniques on a set of natural and synthetic olivines and basaltic glasses.
