Etude sédimentologique de la baie d'Ecalgrain (NW du Cotentin)

Abstract : The bay of Ecalgrain is a trap mainly for fine-grained sands. Offshore the dynamic of sediments is controlled by tidal currents, but on the shore it is mainly under the control of oscillatory waves as proved by radioactives tracers. Dynamic variations of waves according to seasons involve a transport of sand between the mean and low parts of the beach. This transport takes place in a nearly closed circuit because of a minimum transit level at — 6 — 9 m.
