New biting midges (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) in Late Cretaceous Vendean amber

Abstract : The ceratopogonids from Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian to Santonian) amber of Vendée, in northwestern France, are studied. The new species Leptoconops (Leptoconops) gravesi n. sp., Leptoconops species undetermined, and Culicoides doyeni n. sp., are described, illustrated, and compared with other fossil species known for these two genera.
